Lake Claiborne O Meet
Director Notes
October 18, 2008
Lake Claiborne State
Park is a beautiful site for orienteering with challenging terrain and
lots of open running. There are a few briars, but not enough to worry
about. The boundaries of the park are well marked. Just make sure to
not go into the lake or cross fences. The main concerns are the
mosquitoes and chiggers. Bug spray could come in handy. Hopefully, the
temperatures will cool down enough that the bugs will stay home.
We will have water
on the courses, but runners may want to have a bottle or canteen with
them. Make sure to come back with everything you start with. The ALTOS
Environmental Czar may penalize runners who litter! You don’t want to
mess with her!
Since the annual
clinic was blown out by Hurricane Ike, we will have an extended
training session at Lake Claiborne. ALTOS will also have whistles
available for $1.00. Whistles can be life savers. Make sure to have one
with you while running your course.
Come join us for a
fun day of orienteering at beautiful Lake Claiborne State Park.
