As both a psychologist and professor, I consider service to the community to be an integral part of my professional service. Your Mental Health is a free column that I write to help inform people in the community about issues concerning psychological and behavioral health. In addition to appearing online, the column also runs in several small newspapers. Below you can access previous columns, both as originally printed and as a podcast.

If you would like to run Your Mental Health in your newspaper or magazne, please feel free to contact me by email at clack@atu.edu or by phone at 479.356.2006

This full-time APA accredited internship operates through the University of Florida’s Department of Clinical and Health Psychology and the Department of Psychiatry. In addition to seeing individual clients for problems including OCD, GAD, behavioral difficulties, and PTSD, I worked on a number of different rotations. I completed initial intakes on new clients to the center and conducted psychotherapy on clients ages eight to 53, with problems ranging from anxiety, depression, and chronic pain to ADHD and other behavior problems. I was a co-therapist for two groups designed to improve children’s social skills, one with four-year-olds and one with eight to 10-year olds, as well as an adult group targeting parenting skills. In addition, I performed psychological assessments on children and adults for a variety of reasons, including intelligence testing, ADHD and LD evaluations, and diagnostic testing for disorders such as Asperger’s Disorder and schizophrenia.

Psychological Associate, Marriage and Family Clinic, Oklahoma State University

(August 2001 to August 2003; August 2004 to May 2005)

I conducted family therapy as well as couples therapy with dating, engaged, and married couples.  In this clinic, I worked under a live supervision model, in which my peers and supervisor observed sessions, with feedback incorporated immediately into session.
